I have been crazy busy with my first year of teaching, so I have been rather passive on d.a.
need some tec help, how do I program gimp so i can minimize and maximize the two main windows as seen on this screen shot, i did it on my old computer many years ago and i don't remember how....
Happy Easter and Passover to all

I'm guessing that the maximize/minimize icon isn't present on your Gimp title bar.

If this is the case, to change the title bar so that the maximize/minimize icon is present on your Gimp title bar...
Open Gimp, go to "Edit"> "Preferences"> "Window Management"... Once in "Window Manager Hints", make sure that "Hints for the toolbox:" and "Hints for other docks: are both set to "Normal windows" and not "Utility windows".
I believe that these preferences are set to "Utility windows" without the maximize/minimize icon by default.

Changing these preferences to "Normal windows", will give you the maximize/minimize icon on your Gimp title bar that is present on the title bar in your screen shot.
You should then be able to maximize and or minimize any open Gimp window once these preferences are set to "Normal windows".
This will do the trick.
You may need to restart GIMP to have the changes take effect.
